The idea for this piece came from one of my own poems. It describes a rather depressing and dark scene in which large fish play the main role. Here, everything external, not in the water, negatively impacts the aquatic environment. This evokes a feeling of hopelessness in the fish.

"Squalos," from the Latin "Squalus," means "sharks" in modern Romance languages. However, its original meaning was simply "large fish." This older meaning is particularly emphasized in the piece.

The musical setting represents the surface of the water with sustained tones. The gloomy verses are not overly dramatized; instead, they are used to create melodic moments on these soundscapes. The text of the poem is based on the constructed language "Lingwa de Planeta."

Oli sharkas commandi jive, clare fengs,

den feng kel lwo com warm balen'

Oli gaivas radiati storme, trube dumas inu ocean,

kel es sempre blu et emerji com lao surya.
 

Balen' kel navigi suy long resista,

kan an montas e lentem tiri corda.
 

Gaivas flai lautem e kaosa-nem,

e fon ley biks en-stromi blan scuma covri-yen olo.

Momenta poy balen' morti, in nofin-ney soltaqua

e vaste deumeda.
